Apostille requirements depend on the document type,
issuing authority, state or federal jurisdiction,
and destination country.
Powers of attorney, affidavits, declarations, authorizations,
and certain school or business documents may require notarization
before apostille processing.
Birth, marriage, death, court, and other public records may require
a certified copy, County Clerk certification, or another preliminary
authentication step before the apostille can be issued.
Some apostille procedures require an original paper document,
certified copy, notarized original, or original wet-ink signature.
Electronically issued or digitally signed documents can follow
different authentication procedures depending on the issuing
authority and destination country.
Do not mail original documents until you receive the applicable LINS processing instructions.
Eligible U.S. documents intended for countries participating in
the Hague Apostille Convention generally follow the apostille route.
If the destination country does not accept apostilles,
the document may require authentication followed by embassy
or consulate legalization instead.
LINS reviews the document and destination before processing
to help identify preparation problems that can delay apostille issuance.
Standard domestic return shipping is included with the
standard apostille service.
International return shipping and upgraded delivery options
may require an additional shipping charge.
Return to the booking section above and provide your document,
destination country, deadline, and appointment details.
If the $195 standard service does not meet your deadline,
choose a faster processing option for qualifying documents.
